LITTLE MARCH OF MAYHEM
It was too damn quiet which is never good
In a house with toddlers and too much wood
I heard a toot and a thump and a squealing cheer
Then my three marched out like pioneers
Hair up high just minutes before
Now twirled in the air like morale decor
Snip snip ponytails flying free
With a battle cry and a tampon symphony
Little march of mayhem calls
Bangless heads and bathroom walls
Tampon trumpets hair like flags
Victory scream through toddler gags
Little march of bunker pride
No rule book and nowhere to hide
They played their song and took the floor
And sanity don't live here anymore
Applicators launched like tiny bazookas
Bathtub lined with cotton paratroopers
They saluted the wall then stomped in place
Wore victory like conditioner on their face
One had bangs the other had none
All three looked like war crimes wrapped in fun
No shame no pause no fear of fate
Just top knots down and morale at full gait
I said what the
They said look mom
And tooted a C sharp on a plastic baton
Little march of mayhem wins
Tinsel hair and cotton sins
They march through hell in light up shoes
To a rhythm no one taught them to use
Little march of toddler command
Tampon brass and sticky hands
They left the room and took my calm
With a cheer a toot and a plastic bomb
